Bristol Pound Family Weekend

We tend to think that independently-run, local businesses provide the most friendly, the most high quality and the most value-for-money service. With this in mind, let your Bristol Pound act as a ticket to some incredible family days out,

Saturday: Bristol Harbourside

AM - Start the day at At-Bristol, bringing science to life at one of the UK's biggest and best interactive science museums. With a planetarium, dozens of hands-on exhibits and a constantly changing roster of live shows, the sheer amount of things to do here is matched only by their variety.
PM - Jump on board with Number Seven Boat Trips. Drift down the River Avon, reconnect with our maritime heritage and show the kids a different side of Bristol, but do make it back in time to catch an animated film at Watershed.

Sunday: Gloucester Road/St Werburgh's

AM- Start the day at St Werbugh's City Farm. A slice of Gloucestershire in the middle of the city, the farm's educational woodlands, community garden and collection of farmyard animals will delight the kids. Stay for lunch at the award winning cafe and sample some of the farm's excellent produce, or nip round the corner to The Farm pub for an incredible sunday roast.
PM - Wander back through St Andrews and sample some of Gloucester Road's delightful independent shops. Check out The Playfull Toyshop's collection of handcrafted wooden toys for a treat to cap off the kids' Bristol Pound day out, before heading to the family-friendly Galimaufry for coffee or dinner.

Eat seasonal British food, drink great coffee, local cask ales and ciders. Listen to the best Bristol live musicians & DJ’s. Check out the work of emerging artists featured throughout the venue.

What does the word ‘gallimaufry’ mean? Once a hodgepodge stew of humble ingredients made on the galleys, it evolved to represent up-cycled things to wear and use around the home. Our interpretation? Making the best out of what’s available to us on a daily basis. Re-using, up-cycling or re-cycling; working with local suppliers, artists & artisans wherever possible. The venue was transformed in 5 days on the site of the former Prom Music Bar with a shoe-string budget in March, 2012.

We support, accept and trade with the Bristol Pound.
