Meet the Support Team

We really appreciate the time, energy and creativity that our support team are giving to the Bristol Pound project. Their work is crucial in helping to offer the Bristol Pound as a way to build community connections, keep more money working for the people of Bristol, and create a fairer local economy.

If you would like to volunteer some time to the Bristol Pound, please contact the team on info@bristolpound.org - outlining your interests and experience.

Smita Chatchavalvanich - Community Currency Champion

Smita is a Community Currency Champion for the Bristol Pound at the University of Bristol where she studies Business.

Interests: "When travelling, I immerse myself in local culture and enjoy experiencing life in the way lived by local people."

"As a business student, I love the idea of supporting local businesses and feel motivated to be part of this program. Bristol pound turns the concept into a practice in routine life. I believe that “small changes can make a great impact”.

Favourite Place in Bristol "Of course, St. Nicholas market-- a perfect spot to find a wide range of foods and local art shops. Trust me, you don’t want to miss the a farmer market on every Wed!"

"I love the way of Bristolian living. It would be great to have more people to appreciate it and create a strong network within local community."

Sharon Woma - Community Currency Champion

Sharon is a Community Currency Champion - advocating the scheme in the Hospital, online, in the City Centre & Harbourside.

Interests: "Anything entrepreneurial and social enterprise related, I also enjoy volunteering as a business mentor."

"I love being part of something bigger than myself, I believe just playing a small part by simply using the currency can make a big difference and I love the idea of exploring shops that would not normally be on my radar - this appeals to my adventurous spirit!"

Favourite Place in Bristol: "The Harbourside and Stokes Croft, can’t have just one!"

If you could do one thing to change the city what would it be?

"Create casual opportunities for people to interact with strangers, just to make daily connections."

Thanks so much, Sharon, for your support for the Bristol Pound!
