Supplier of the Week #1 – Little Roar Cakes

Introducing our new series, Supplier of the Week, where we celebrate the independent wholesale businesses of the Bristol Pound community.

Our first featured supplier is Little Roar Cakes, a company based in Montpelier that produce raw, organic, vegan, gluten-free and no refined sugar cakes. They supply health food shops, cafes and delis across Bristol, as well as private events.

Little Roar Cakes has been working with Bristol Pound right from the beginning, and is a great example of how the Bristol Pound network can connect businesses across the city and help to create a healthy, self-sustaining economy, as Zowie from Little Roar explained:

I get paid in Bristol Pounds by some of my stockists, primarily Chi Foods in St Philips. I then use this towards the purchase of my ingredients from Essential Trading Co-op in Fishponds. They can then use this to pay their business rates to Bristol City Council, whose staff can opt in to have a portion of their wages paid in £B. These employees can then use this currency to shop / eat / explore independent businesses across the city and the cycle continues.’

Thank you to Zowie Hackwood and Little Roar Cakes.
