Supplier of the Week #2 – Hugo’s Greengrocer

Supplier of the Week – where we celebrate the independent wholesale businesses of the Bristol Pound community.

For our second Supplier of the Week we have Hugo’s Greengrocers, a deli based in Bedminster where you can find fresh, seasonal fruit and veg grown just outside Bristol city centre.

Hugo explained to us the benefits he gets from using Bristol Pounds in his business:

‘We’ve used Bristol pounds from almost day one here at Hugo’s, don’t know why everyone doesn’t use them! The app is super efficient and Bristol Pound holds the same values that we do. If everyone shopped on the high street here in Bedminster, Gloucester Road or St Marks Road, Bristol would be a much richer place!’

As well as selling produce from his deli at 73 North Street, Hugo supplies restaurants across the city, such as Sundial Kitchen (also on North Street) and Yurt Lush in Temple Meads.

But it’s not just Hugo’s customers that are local – nearly all of his products are grown or produced close to home, with most of the farms that supply him being within a 15 mile radius of the city centre. He also sells bread baked across town in Redfield, coffee roasted in Stokes Croft and pasta made (literally) just down the road. This is why, when you shop at Hugo’s, you can be sure that what you’re eating hasn’t travelled far, and that ‘whatever’s on the shelf is bang in season‘.

Find out more about Hugo’s Greengrocers on their website, Instagram and Facebook.
